Since Last Fm discontinued supporting single song embedding on external websites, but left the function intact, I wanted to make a workaround as this function was the most useful thing (to me) that last fm removed.
All you need is the URL for the song you wish to generate embed code for.
Just enter the URL in the field, and it will automatically generate the embed code for the song, and also make a little preview button.
The code can be embedded into a wordpress post or page thereafter.
I have also made this script available as a Wordpress Plugin.

When I try to use this, for some reason it cuts off about the first minute of the song I’m trying to post to my blog. Very disappointing.

Hi Ben.
I have noticed this on a few tracks, and I too wondered why, then I realised that the songs I tried were actually only samples on the last fm site, meaning that whoever is in control of those songs does not want them up as full tracks for some reason.
Best way to check is to see if the song you are trying to embedd is the full version on the last fm site. If not, then It wont be using this script either.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but this no longer works with Flash10. You seem to have ver.9 installed, which is supported by their InlinePlayer.

To me it seems that it is not working anymore. I click generate and it provides the code, but it does not seem to show anything. I see:
“ - Preview Song”
write below the URL field, and when I try embedding it on my own page, nothing appears.

It seems to be a problem with Flash 10, this particular script was written when flash 9 was the most recent, and flash 10 is incompatible. Maybe if you have a brower with flash 9 on it it might work - if last.fm hasnt removed the service completly. As far as i know, to make this work for flash 10, someone would have to completly rewrite the lastfm player button, and make it usable in domains outside flash.fm’s owned domains. Sorry! I dont have the skills to do this. All i did was to get a friend to take last.fm’s old code and made a generator for it to insert the song id, then i made it into a wordpress plugin.
